We Are So Lame Hiking Boots

Are the Salomon Contagrip hiking boots, able to hold on to crampons.?

Contragrip is the Salomon brand name for their sole. It is used on dozens of their shoe styles going back over 10 years. Knowing the actual style of boot would allow for a better response.

If you want a ballpark answer…there is nothing I know of in the current Salomon line that accepts a step-in crampon. Many of the trekking and winter boots could be used with strap-on crampon.

If I was going to buy a boot I intended to use with crampons, either strap-on or step-in I would get something with a Vibram sole. The harder rubber provides a more solid base. Something like a Kahtoola Microspike traction device would work better with a lighterweight boot such as those from Salomon.
